Session Description
With one quick glance, viewers of the ‘Gen Z Voices’ poster will see faces of creative students overlaid on a schematic that shows a timeline of workflow that extends from ‘Table Topic’ to ‘Archiving’.
This poster incorporates Youth Media Team case studies from 2013-2019 in which students have recorded and shared audio responses to overhead questions. The poster shows a visual narrative of the creative process where students revised, remixed, and distributed open education materials.
The poster offers a simple phrase that reveals deeper background information when Google hears the phrase spoken into the search application. A QR code accompanies the poster and viewers can use it to hear complementary content streamed from the Spreaker content management system.
A series of audio clips (podcasts) describing Gen Z voices in education can be downloaded if viewers opt to subscribe to the educasting.ie podcast. The podcast collection features voices from third level, primary school, Transition Year, and Ireland’s Youth Media Team at http://ymt.fm.
The poster shows the essence of the workflow and technology used to successfully engage students in active learning. Some of the technology is free (i.e., Spreaker and Flickr), some is BYOD (Bring Your Own Device such as a smartphone), and some learning support is usually required (i.e., online storage such as OneDrive as well data connectivity through a mobile phone plan or school WiFi).
URLs of the poster’s creatives and of YMT.fm will also be shown with their Twitter handles at the bottom of the poster.
