Erica, Founder and Creative Head of Ahimsa Media, is a forward thinker. Her early integration into the digital space and ability to develop stories interactively, led to the creation of one of the earlier transmedia storytelling companies and transmedia characters.
Over the years, Erica has written for TV, magazines, books, the web and the education sector. She has worked as a creative producer for both TV and theatre, directed, and even starred in her own TV Show. Erica has also taught – both in the Community, and at Post Secondary and Grade School Institutions.
Thriving on challenges and the desire to solve problems, Erica has been focusing her storytelling on emerging, digital and social media for over a decade and has been loving it. As of late, Erica’s storytelling has been focused around web series, aimed at doing social good through sharing tales that increase cultural understanding and promote sustainability. She is proud to share that her team’s work on the documentary web series Naturally Ours has won them awards internationally and they were ranked in the top 7 web series in Canada and top 50 web series in the world in 2018.
At present, Erica’s research interests involve sustainable funding models for storytelling, stories around WWII, and AR and VR solutions in storytelling. Much of this research interest has been catalyzed by a project that she and her team have in development around WWII stories for youth and their families.
Feeling very passionate about digital, interactive and immersive storytelling, Erica loves sharing her story with others and what she has learned along the way.
